You Are NOT Fatally Flawed

Do you…

  • Plan to start eating healthier and working out, but then are too tired after work to go to the gym?

  • Long to move forward on that writing project, but don’t make it happen?

  • Crave to discover and do the work you love, but stay in the same secure job?

  • Keep saying you’re going to take a vacation, but don’t take time to plan it so it never happens?

If you are like me, Susan, you may have experienced all of these issues at one time or another. You may even see yourself as a failure, lacking willpower, or being lazy. It’s not true!

You do not lack willpower, or competence, or have some fatal flaw that’s responsible for stopping you from moving forward and succeeding – really.

The reason you’re not moving forward is because some part of you is resisting for some good reason. You may not be listening to that part. As a result, you’re hitting your upper limit. The limit you unconsciously set for yourself about what you “deserve.”

Let’s face it – many of us are wary and afraid of abundance, unlimited possibilities, loving and shining brightly. We think thoughts like:

  • OMG, if I shine, I may leave people behind

  • To be successful, I have to sacrifice … (fill in the blank)

  • If I succeed, I will fall harder later

  • If I do go forward, people will be mad and reject me

These are all stories that keep you stuck right where you are.

I know—I, CrisMarie, was stuck. I wanted to write more personally about my experiences and how they shaped me back then and now, but I wasn’t doing it. I wouldn’t make the time. I’d rationalize that, well, this blog really doesn’t need a story about me. I’ll tell a client’s story or teach a tool like how to disagree with your honey. All the while feeling disappointed in myself.

The truth is, I was terrified that if I shared my stories I’d be attacked and rejected – mainly by my own family.

Growing up in my family was not pleasant. It shaped how I see my whole world, my life choices and who I am. Sure, I can stay quiet and not write, but then I don’t get to exist by sharing me. I don’t get to digest my own experiences and grow. I don’t get to connect with and support others who’ve had similar experiences.

It wasn’t until Susan ran her spring program, Get Unstuck: Build Your Mojo, (which is a short four-week coaching program designed to get you unstuck and get you going on the goal that matters most to you), that I was able to break through to what was stopping me.

I co-lead the program with Susan, but I also take the opportunity to apply the tools, the coaching and the process to a goal that’s important to me at the time.

After the first class of Get Unstuck: Build Your Mojo, I built a Mandala (a visual tool Susan developed that helps you identify all the crucial elements of success, while also identifying and cultivating the important elements that support you, all of you, to avoid burnout). This, along with some coaching with Susan to helped give me the steps I needed to move forward while feeling supported.

Then magic happened!

Not a week later I saw an online writing course, Dig Deep, by a writer I love, Alexandra Franzen, who’d partnered with Susan Hyatt, a coach I love. I signed up and started writing.

Since that time, I’ve written personal blogs about dancing, about feeling like a failure, and even a magazine article about having hot flashes while leading a business meeting.

Then I posted a couple of these articles on Facebook. Within two months of finishing Get Unstuck: Build Your Mojo, I had several new coaching clients.

If you find yourself thinking:

  • Why can’t I do this?

  • I must be doing this wrong!

  • I’m broken and a failure.

  • I always say I want to do this but then nothing happens. I’m a fraud.

It doesn’t have to be this way. You can do something different and make some real, tangible progress on the goals that mean the most to you, the goals you keep stalling on.

So want to finally move forward on what matters most? Then why not join Susan and me for Get Unstuck: Build Your Mojo, or Relationship Mojo, or our signature retreat Find Your Mojo in Montana? Don’t let your fear stop you from becoming all you can be!

Hugs,

CrisMarie
