Have you ever kept working at something, but just made it worse?
You wind up feeling frustrated, exhausted and unsuccessful!
This happens to me, Susan, quite often – whether I’m working on a project, writing, playing golf or working with the horses.
Over and over again, I’ve found the best medicine in this circumstance is to stop hitting my head against the wall. Instead, I need to pause, step back and sometimes even retreat from engaging.
This is counter-intuitive in our driven culture that constantly encourages us to push our agenda, muscle through, make more money and succeed.
Let’s look at the word retreat.
The dictionary definition of retreat is: “an act of moving away or withdrawing.” You might think to retreat means quitting or abandoning something or someone. I disagree.
Sometimes to retreat is just what’s called for, and there is amazing strength in knowing when to take a step back from a situation, a project and even a relationship!
When you retreat, you allow space for reviewing, reflection and refreshing.
Recently, CrisMarie and I’ve been putting the final pieces together for our Find Your Mojo in Montana Retreat. We haven’t always used the word “retreat” to describe the program, yet we realize that’s exactly what it is.
Why?
Because we’re inviting you to join us in our charming hometown of Whitefish Montana, gateway to the magnificent Glacier National Park – with luxury accommodations, gourmet and organic food, magical experiences with the horses and connection to yourself, us and others.
We want to give you some rich opportunities to retreat – to think, feel, reflect and experience the power of nature. This retreat is all about:
Improving your confidence and strength
Increasing your magnetic presence
Accessing and honoring your innate strengths
Improving relationship dynamics in your work and life
Connecting to your intuition, creativity and inspiration.
Having some fun!
Doesn’t that sound like a retreat? To top it off it’s an intimate retreat with just 6-8 participants. Hey there’s two of us, so you’ll get our personalized attention!
In your hectic, jam-packed life and in business, it’s not always easy to entertain taking a retreat. Yet, over and over again, with past retreaters, like Sue Putnam, it was the perfect intervention to a stress-filled situation.
“I wanted to feel more confident in myself at work. Susan and CrisMarie helped me understand how I’m holding back my voice in my key relationships. Now, I understand my stress, anxiety and depression are due to my own mental blocks. In working with the horses, I was able to feel the power of being in my body and breathing more consciously. Bringing that level of embodiment back into key relationships is going to help me speak up more authentically and check out my stories! I am excited to put my new found mojo to the test!”
-Sue Putnam
It’s amazing what each person gets when they’re here with us, but to the person, each one walks away with a new perspective on an old problem.
What about you?
Are you stressed, super-busy and wondering how you are going to get everything done?
Are you facing some major challenges either at work or with your health?
Is a significant relationship tangled or in a constant state of irreconcilable conflict?
You may be thinking, “I can’t take a break. I have to press on, work harder.”.
Yet, this may be just the perfect time to retreat.
Take time to step away from that job, that crisis, that relationship. Step away and do something different.
Consider coming to Montana, learning some lessons from playing with the horses. Enjoy some time dropping into your body and feeling deeply.
Pack your boots and get yourself to Montana and we’ll take care of the rest! Let’s retreat!
See you soon,
Susan
