The Bold and Beautiful “Chris Campbell”

This upcoming weekend CrisMarie will be inducted into The University of Washington Hall of Fame in Seattle with her teammates from two collegiate women’s 8+ rowing teams.

These ‘Girls in the Boat’ were collegiate National Champions in both 1984 and 1985.

The Olympic Reclamation Process

When I first met CrisMarie I was so excited to personally meet an Olympian. A close friend introduced us, and our first interaction went something like this:

Me, Susan: “Wow – what was it like going to the Olympic Games?!”

CrisMarie: “Don’t talk to me about the Olympics– we lost.”

Me: “Really? So what you lost? You made it to the Olympic Games! If you’re a loser, what does that make the rest of us? You need to do some work on that story!”

Thankfully, CrisMarie did change her story.

With her induction into the Hall of Fame, this week is the perfect time to celebrate her Olympic reclamation journey!

The Bold Beginning

I Susan could write her story, but these days CrisMarie owns her journey on the stage. Here she tells you a brief part of her story – what I call her Bold Move.

The Beautiful

What I’ve grown to love about witnessing CrisMarie reclaiming her Olympic Shine Story is that it’s Beautiful – meaning it’s not perfect. It’s real.

When she’s speaking on stage, she talks about winning, losing, collapsing, giving herself away, and picking herself back up. Like the rest of us do in our life as we pursue our dreams.

It’s a beautiful story – the real kind – not the superstar Chris Campbell as she used to be known as, but the human and the hero, CrisMarie.

Plus, her team even asked her to accept the award and give the speech on behalf of her two teams at the Sunday Hall of Fame dinner.

Wow, now that’s wonderful!

Can you tell I am proud to have The Chris Campbell as part of our thrive! Team?

Congratulations!
